Chewbacca Bandolier Strap

Date Stamp:
1983
Release Date:
1983
Boxed Availability:
  • Return Of The Jedi
Assortment No.:
70480
Retail:
8.99
Weapons and Accessories:

  • Collector case that holds 10 Star Wars Figures
  • Comes with 2 Pouches for accessories and “secret messages” – I have no idea why they included this, desperation maybe
  • Can be worn over your shoulder

Force fact:

Well, what can I say. This is the worst of the toys Kenner released. Like they did not have enough carrying cases to begin with they had to make this thing. I have no idea how many sold but I do know from seeing them in the stores that they were on clearance…for years. They were still on the shelves in 1988 and I left them behind and am glad I did even when they were under a $1 each. There were not a few of them left behind but hundreds.

Mini Action Figure Collector Case

Date Stamp:
1983
Release Date:
1983
Boxed Availability:
  • Return Of The Jedi
Assortment No.:
39190
Retail:
9.99
Weapons and Accessories:

  • Collector case that holds 24 Star Wars Figures
  • Sticker sheet of the original 65 Figures
  • Flip over the 2 cases and they are an excellent display stand!

Force fact:

I think we have seen these toys before. The fifth and final rendition of the Vinyl Action Figure case was this ROTJ version. Much tougher than any others as it was released in much smaller numbers probably due to the fact Kenner also released the Darth Vader case in ROTJ as well as the new C-3PO case and the Chewbacca Bandolier Strap.

This set has red trays.

C-3PO Collector Case

Date Stamp:
1983
Release Date:
1983
Boxed Availability:
  • Return Of The Jedi
Assortment No.:
70440
Retail:
19.99
Weapons and Accessories:

  • Collector case that holds 40 Star Wars Figures
  • Sticker sheet of the original 65 Figures
  • Special Chamber to store accessories

Force fact:

Though Kenner re-released the Darth Vader case for ROTJ it also came out with the C-3PO case that was all chromed and looked really good in package. Like the Vader case these were marketed to mothers who wanted kids to keep their rooms clean and have all their stuff tidied up. No kid wanted this toy that was the same price as any other thing out this year. Really, a Tie Interceptor or Ewok Village, maybe a Y-Wing or three Speeder Bikes…no a C-3PO case is what I would want. Never happened, mothers and grandmothers only bought these cases.

Weapons and Accessories:

  • Opening Cockpit

Force fact:
Of all the ROTJ Mini Rigs this one is the best in my opinion. It had great play value as an Imperial Shuttle (which was not released until the following year).

Release Date:
1983
Boxed Availability:

Assortment No.:

Retail:

Weapons and Accessories:

  • Opening Cockpit
  • 2 Movable Laser Cannons
  • Movable Wings

Force fact:
Like the previous Mini-Rigs they are vehicles “just off screen.” We now refer to these as Expanded Universe toys. Toys which were not in the film but were in the background and were similar to other items of the time. Kenner would release four in total for ROTJ as well as two for the Ewoks.

This was the “big” set for Christmas 1983 even though the price point of several of the new vehicles were about the same. Pretty cool set that is later reused by Kenner for the Robin Hood line as were other Ewok vehicles and playsets.
