1984
Boxed Availability:
  • Return Of The Jedi
Assortment No.:
71530
Retail:
14.99
Weapons and Accessories:

  • Collector case that holds 19 Star Wars Figures
  • Includes a compartment for accessories and “secret messages” – As before I have no idea why they included this
  • Can be used as a rifle and has a see-through scope that doubles as a handle

Force fact:

Yet another figure carrying case. A bit more imagination in this one over the Bandolier Strap at least. I have heard a number of collectors who made interesting uses out of this toy including a Jedi Killing Long Distance Rifle and also, when opened, a Jabba Sail Barge. We really had a fun time with these toys and using our vivid imaginations making use of everything around us. Fun times indeed!

Kenner took the Mini-Rigs in a slightly different direction here with these next two by both reducing the price point and making them Ewok centered. Actually really cool toys like all the “Expanded Universe” stuff Kenner did for Star Wars.

The “EPIC” piece of the ROTJ toy line, released as the big Christmas item for 1984 and it was a stunner. Great toy with great playability. This is the absolute best of ROTJ and second only to the AT-AT among the Vehicles and Playsets.

Sy Snootles and the Max Rebo Band

Date Stamp:
1983
Release Date:
1984
Boxed Availability:
  • Return Of The Jedi
  • Tri-logo
Assortment No.:
71360
Retail:
9.99
Weapons and Accessories:

  • Set comes with 3 Figures: Sy Snootles, Max Rebo and Droopy McCool
  • Includes Piano, 2 Microphones and Saxophone

Force fact:
There was some debate in my mind as to whether to include these three with the figures or with the Vehicles and Playsets. They do come on an oversized blister card/window box and are figures but in the end I decided they are part of the Boxed items given their packaging and accessories.

Regardless there were three more figures to inhabit Jabba’s domain. As seen in the photo on the package these are the correct, unaltered versions of the trio before the abominable changes of the special, butchered, altered and ruined re-re-re releases of the film.

Jabba the Hutt Dungeon II

Date Stamp:
Rev 02
Release Date:
1984
Boxed Availability:
  • Return Of The Jedi
Assortment No.:
59262
Retail:
13.99
Weapons and Accessories:

  • Working Crane
  • Torture hook/Branding iron holds droids upside down
  • Set comes with 3 new figures: Amanaman, EV-9D9 and Barada

Force fact:
This was the last of the Figure included Playsets done by Kenner. This one included 3 of the 1985 POTF Figures for the Christmas holiday. Often referred to as the POTF Dungeon as opposed to the earlier Jabba Dungeon this set was indeed released in ROTJ and does not have the POTF logo. Many collectors do not realize this was a 1984 release set, many months before the POTF line hit stores the following year.

Kenner reused the mold to the base of the previous Dungeon (just changed the color again) to make this toy. Like previous items that included figures this was released early in the line and was, at the time, a Sears exclusive.
