Force fact:
I debated on whether or not to include this figure in the list as it was not released in the US by Kenner. However due to its popularity it is included here. The Yak Face was cancelled as the Star Wars line was discontinued in stores across the US. As it is with tail enders (the last toys of a line) they were much more limited in quantities and often dumped in overseas markets. Yak Face is a little more complicated that that. First off the POTF version was released in Canada and subsequently in Australia in Canadian packaging. So it is part of the POTF line if not as a US release.

Things get more interesting from there. Palitoy (the UK toy line) added him to the Tri-Logo line of figures released in Europe. However in this package he comes with no weapon and obviously no coin. What is even more convoluted is that sales in Europe then died off and Palitoy dumped Tri-Logo figures back in the United States. Kay-Bee Toys, and possibly other stores, carried some of these figures on clearance here in the States and for a very brief time Yak Face could be found in the US. But only after Kenner dumped them on Palitoy in Europe and they then turned around and dumped them in the US on KB Toys. What a circuitous route to take for a toy! Anyway that makes it part of the US release in our list.

Force fact:
An interesting figure choice by Kenner given his limited screen time, no speaking part and generally being the definition of background character. Kenner often went with Aliens as figures especially early in the line as they work with screen shots and had not seen the film. Not so here they purposely picked this character over Grand Moff Tarkin, Wedge Antilles or another trooper. Always struck me as an odd but interesting choice. I would love to know the rational on his selection.
