Ewoks Back

Release Date:
1985
Carded Availability:
  • Ewoks
Force fact:

The final line and series done by Kenner of Vintage days gone by was the Ewoks. The back again had no variations and showed the 6 figures and some Ewok related vehicles below. Originally Kenner had planned to re-release those toys in Ewok packaging but the line did so poorly the idea was dropped. Also added to both the Droids and Ewoks was a brief description of each of the characters, probably because Kenner knew no one watched the show so they thought it might help sell the toys if someone knew who the characters were. Nothing helped in the end.

POTF 92 A Back

Release Date:
1985
Carded Availability:
  • Power Of The Force
Force fact:

The 92 A Back is the one and only back for the Power of the Force line of 1985. Sadly Kenner did what so many toy companies do and that is create some of its best toys after the run has declined or died. Star Wars was no exception as the POTF line only lasted one year in production but was on the shelves for a few years. The 92 A Back has the entire line of 92 figures even though nowhere near that number was available in the POTF line. There were 14 new figures as well as quite a few older figures re-released in this line. The new wrinkle, of course, was the inclusion of the matching Collector Coin with each figure. The bottom of the back of the card shows just that as well as highlighting 62 coins total in the set although many were not available with figures but only through the mail from the Free Coin Offer that was a sticker put on random figures on the shelves or shipping to stores at this time.

ROTJ 79 C Back

Release Date:
1985
Carded Availability:
  • Return Of The Jedi
Force fact:

The 79 C Back is the same as the 79 B but the Anakin offer is printed, not a sticker. I believe this figure would have been early 1985 rather than 1984 release due to the release time of the 79 B and the expiration of the offer which was end of May 1985. Also, this was the last of the ROTJ figures in the line.

The 79 A Back is the late 1984 release that shows off the 2 new Ewok figures for the end of the year. Interestingly the new figures are #12 and #13 instead of #1 and #2. The bottom of the card again shows the same toys as the 77 A Back.

ROTJ 65 D – E Back

Release Date:
1984
Carded Availability:
  • Return Of The Jedi
Force fact:

The 65 D Back is identical to the A & B Back as that is what they are but with the Anakin Skywalker sticker offer slapped over the bottom. These were most likely added to left over ROTJ inventory from 1983 and 1984 but would likely been released in 1984 mostly.
Please note there is an additional figure of 65 E in the general hobby but that refers to a front only variation that has the Anakin Sticker offer on top of the previously printed Emperor offer. From the point of view of the backs there is no difference as you cannot see what is printed under the sticker on the back. However I add this information for the reason of completeness and education.
